stone soup sundays: truckee
By ccrossen | February 4, 2010
Soup…music…community Stone Soup is open again every Sunday from Jan. 24 through March 14, 5 to 7:30 p.m. at The “Old Rec Center” in downtown Truckee, now the “Community Arts Center.” Free to everyone, Stone Soup, at its simplest, is a celebration of food and community. A group of dedicated volunteers initiated it last year as an attempt to help address the hunger and isolation in the community due to dramatic changes in the economy. They strived to create a space for “coming together,” where everyone was welcome to share food, friends, family, conversation, support, or just a bowl of soup with great bread and music. The kitchen is open again, volunteer-run, and operating as a project under the administrative umbrella of Project MANA and a partnership with the Truckee Donner Parks and Recreation District who provides use of the Community Arts Center. Help celebrate good food and great community. www.projectmana.org
