tahoe skiing update
By ccrossen | February 6, 2010

Snow’s excellent right now in the right spots. Snowing most of the day Saturday, with a few inches of accumulation up high. Snow showers should continue into the early evening, then taper off. Temps are warmer than expected, but it’s still really nice fluffy snow. Backcountry powder is holding surprisingly well, spongy underneath, light on top. The higher you go, the better it gets. Resorts are skiing great as well. 6-8 inches yesterday, with more today… the system has split and we’re only getting a glancing blow, but we’ll take it. Nice to have the refresh. Bulk of the system is heading down south, and Mammoth/East Side should pick up another foot by tomorrow morning. Upcoming week looks unsettled, but no major snow for Tahoe as the systems will be shoved south, favoring the Mammoth area again – El Nino dynamics.
