conditions: perfect spring

By ccrossen | April 10, 2008

Skied Silver Peak this morning, alone, again… perfect conditions, powder on the N aspects and corn on the southern. The road in is horrible, rutted, refrozen smaller versions of penitente. Not a very fun skin up nor ski back down. Up high it stayed cold with a chilly east wind. This wind really helped the northern aspects, which had a few inches on top of softer, nicely consolidated snow. The southern corn shots were excellent as well, but the snow is disappearing fast. We probably have two weeks or less on the lower southern facing slops in Tahoe. The skin up near the top required some major rock crossings, which weren’t bare two weeks ago. Get it while you can.
