Snow

By ccrossen | December 16, 2018

Quick update for the incoming storm. Hi winds again Sunday into Sunday afternoon, when the front arrives. We should get between 5-10 inches of snow tonight into tomorrow morning. Will start warm and get colder, which will be nice for the snow pack and for the skiing. We have a fairly complex backcountry snowpack right now. Touring yesterday, encountered almost ever type of snow condition imaginable, making for very interesting skiing. The snowpack is very diverse, with snow type and density changing quickly within small zones. Older faceted layers and wind slabs will be buried by the new storm, and it remains to be seen what will happen to these once loaded. Wind slabs persist on N/NE facing slopes, and they will be covered by new snow and loading.
